CONGRATULATIONS to MSK True Value Stores, our January 2021 Business of the Month. In 2015Je/f Johnson,
owner of Del’s Building Supply, a True Value hardware store, purchased Hall’s Mercantile, an ACE Hardware
store, that had operated in downtown Myrtle Creek for many decades. The store was closed and, after a
complete interior remodel and exterior face lift, held a Grand Opening the weekend of June 5/6, 2015 to
overflow crowds. Both stores, as well as building and industrial supply outlets, have since operated as MSK
True Value stores.
The history of True Value, originally a retailer-owned cooperative, began with founder John Cotter who started
his career at a neighborhood store at age 12. In 1948 John founded Cotter & Company that grew to 25
independently owned and operated stores. Today True Value remains com
mitted to an aggressive plan for growth as one of the world’s largest
groups of independently owned
hardware distributors, with over 4,600 stores worldwide.
Today the MSK True Value Stores have a total of 24 full/part-time employees.

to Jeff, property has been purchased and plans are moving forward to build a
new MSK True Value store in the South Umpqua Valley Industrial Park area
adjacent to Pruner Road near the 1-5 103 interchange.Details to be announced.
